Zara’s alarm system

Good morning everyone! Malta weather is very nasty today, rain lightning and thunder. I think it’s kinda cosy actually.

In my old swedish blog I used to write posts about things that upset me or annoyed me or generally made me swear but as you might have noticed I try to ignore those topics in this blog, you know, to pay more attention to the positive and beautiful things. It’s just that…last week I went twice to Zara, and I’m usually wearing something Zara labelled like shoes or bags and this thing with their alarm is something that I just can not ignore to write about. It really truly pisses me off and I’ve lost count how many times I’ve been swearing and offending the poor security guy. The thing is; because they have some faulty thing in their system my boots or bags trigger the alarm as soon as I walk in or out of the shop. Everytime it happens they ask me to go to the cash to inactivate my shoe/bag so that til next time there won’t be a sound. Even if it was correctly done by the time of purchase.

This is SO embarrasing and annoying, it makes me not want to visit the god damn shop again. And I will not wear other boots or clothes just for the sake of not causing that sound and make everyone look at me as if I’m a thief.

So. Zara. PLEASE FIX YOUR ALARM SYSTEM!!! I want to be able to walk in with my old boots and not make a sound. Ok?

  1. I have had the same problem in London but it also sets off all other alarms too. Gap. Paperchase, Boots, it is sooo embarrassing i will be writing to the head office and i refuse to buy any more Zara products again.

thanks for your blog but please explain does it reactive once you walk into their shop?

    • Hey, thanks for ur comment! :) How funny that so many have this problem and they dont seem to fix it!
It doesnt matter if they inactivate the alarm when I go in their shop (after being so angry from the alarm going off) coz it happens the next time again anyway.
I have a pair of boots from Zara in Rome, they set of the alarm at Zara here in Malta each time, so if I need something from Zara I wear different boots. Thats crazy!!!
Pls write something nasty to them, so maybe they ll understand it’s a problem! :o))

  2. I absolutely love your blog and find the majority of your post’s to be exactly I’m looking for. Would you offer guest writers to write content for you personally? I wouldn’t mind writing a post or elaborating on some of the subjects you write in relation to here. Again, awesome blog!

  3. Saw your post while google Zara’s alarm system. Because we just found that if you take the red round sticker off the shoe you bought. It won’t trigger the alarm.

It seems that the shoe itself won’t trigger the alarm, nor does the red round sticker itself. Only the red round sticker is on the shoe will trigger the alarm.

It is so weird and that’s why I wanted to google how Zara’s alarm system works. Hope this will help.

  4. The same thing happen to me with both my zara bag in indonesia and not juz in zara outlets but most outlets with alarm system like Mango, Accessorize, Monsoon etc. one of the sales lady told me it may be because the metal studs used on the bags is similar to the ones they use to make the censor tags which sets off alarm….o well now i’m never using those 2 bags to the mall…
