Exercise During Your Holiday

Finding it hard to exercise during your holiday? I agree. Since we are travelling right now it’s hard to stick to the regular exercise routine, but I really try to keep it up, one way or another. If you don’t find a gym or pilates/yoga classes nearby, you can always go for long walks and do some simple stretches. If you are near a pool, make sure you go for a few laps before relaxing on the flamingo 😉

Here are some simple things you can do without even leaving the hotel room if there’s no gym in sight;

  • 10-15 bodyweight squats.
  • 8-12 push-ups
  • 20-30-second bicycle kicks.
  • 20 jumping jacks.
  • 12 lunges per leg.
  • 15-30 second plank.
  • No rest between exercises, 1 minute rest between sets, repeat for 5 rounds.

Be creative and pack light exercise stuff like a resistance band, jump rope or a light yoga mat, so you feel more motivated to exercise during your holiday, and try to take every chance to stay active – even small, simple things like taking the stairs instead of the lift helps.

I also try to think twice about my eating habits when travelling. Nothing worse than feeling sluggish because the plane ride mostly means poor nutrition, or just simply eating too late or too often, and so on. One idea is to bring your own food on the plane. You can easily bring a small container with oats and dried fruits. All you have to do is ask for some hot water and there’s your healthy meal 🙂
